The Department Manager is responsible for unit operations. Accountable for associate engagement, physician alignment, and patient satisfaction. Ensures that safety and quality is delivered according to current evidence-based standards of practice. Promotes and supports shared decision making. Manages unit resources including scheduling of staff and provision of necessary equipment and supplies. Responsible for core measures, and other identified outcome measures on the unit.

Assumes responsibility for staffing and scheduling associates and appropriate utilization of personnel.
Develops, implements, monitors, and maintains accountability for budget in defined area of responsibility.·
Responsible for outcomes i.e. quality indicators, core measures, HCAPS, patient satisfaction, and associate satisfaction.
Develops, implements, and evaluates action plans for continuous performance improvement. ·
Provides a safe environment through the utilization of best practices.
Creates a learning environment that is open and respectful and promotes and supports evidence based practice.
Ensures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continued professional development of associates.
Monitors Associate performance; providing coaching, recognition, counselling and avenues for improvement as needed.
Develops and maintains a professional relationship with members of the health care team, the patient and the patient's family.
Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment that minimizes work related illness and injury.

*Two years clinical experience in Surgical Services. *2 years management experience
*Previous CSS, Surgery or materials management experience. Preferred.
*Associate degree or High School Diploma and four years experience *RN license or Certified Sterile Processing Tech or Certified Surgical Tech *Basic Life Support (BLS)
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
*Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint *Strong organizational skills and experience in handling numerous projects simultaneously *Excellent interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with physicians and caregivers at all levels of the organization *Demonstrate the ability of leadership, team building, mentoring or coaching skills *Knowledge and ability to perform financial and cost benefit analysis *Demonstrate skill, knowledge or experience in CSS *Further development of planning, organizing, staffing, evaluating and budgeting skills *Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
