Direct and oversee the Department’s daily management and assignments; manage the Department’s data; assist with providing organizational leadership for prevention interventions.

Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skill in the area of infection prevention, control and epidemiology.
Assists with department program planning, development, budgets, program evaluation and hospital policy and procedures development.
Oversees and manages the department's data, infection tracking and trending, analysis and summaries including MDSS, MSSS and other data systems.
Maintains current knowledge and functions well with electronic media, eg, computers and handheld devices.
Uses a systematic approach to monitor the effectivenss of prevention and control strategies that are consistent with the organization'sgoals and objectives.
Provides expert knowledge and guidance in infection prevention, control and epidemiology.
Provides work and assignment coordination for Infection Prevention team members. Manages the daily schedules of team members and work-flow.
Provides performance supervision and evaluation of team members.
Provides leadership within the Department for outbreaks, investigations and other urgent/emergent issues and concerns. Based on trends, establishes prevention interventions and new surveillance as indicated based on organizations data and literature.
Provides leadership and infection prevention consultation at hospital, health system meetings and related healthcare community meetings.
Manages and facilitates the department's involvement in construction and environmental control of infectious hazards including planning, risk assessment and risk mitigation.
Provides leadership in outbreaks, urgent/emergent infectious concerns and other investigations. Maintain liaison with administration, public health and others as required.
Participates in organizational performance improvement iniatives such as core measures and demonstration projects.
Assumes leadership of the Department in the absence of the Director.
Acts as a resource to the general public and medical community regarding infection prevention
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Experience: Project management, research, or performance improvement experience. *Minimum of 5 years experience in Infection Prevention. *Minimum of 4 years experience in supervision and management. *Previous experience with Excel, word processing and data analysis programs
Education: Bachelors degree in nursing, microbiology, public health or epidemiology undergraduate degree
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
License/Certification: Board Certified in Infection Control and Epidemiology through the Certification Board for Infection Control and Prevention
